I
Graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1984 with a BA in education,
majoring in speech/language pathology.
In 1986 I began working as a substitute teacher at various schools
until I was offered a job in the Albany school district. At this
time I also began to work on my master’s degree at the college of
St. Rose and graduated in 1993.
I moved to Western New York and taught at various schools including
Wyoming central. In 1995 I began working for Diversified rehab and
working for my certificate of clinical competency which I received
in1997. I also hold a permanent Teaching certificate as a teacher
of the speech and hearing handicapped.
In 1997, after the birth of my child I opened One Teddy Bear Place,
a home day care that I run to this day.
In April of 2002 my daughter Kiera began studying kenpo karate in
the little dragons program, and in May of 2002 I also became a student
at International Black Belt Academy and would often be a parent
volunteer with the little dragons.
In August of that year Sensei Koch invited me to attend a conference
in PA on the little ninja program. This program was launched at
the school that October, and I am responsible for writing and assisting
in implementing these lessons.
Since then I have been invited to join the assistant instructor
program and am starting to work with other levels of students. I
thoroughly enjoy working and studying at the school. I feel my teaching
and daycare background have helped me be able to relate to the children
that I work with. I have met many great people and also get to work
with some to the best teachers in the field. My husband has also
joined the academy so it has truly become an activity for our entire
family.
I invite you to bring your entire family to our school; we have
exciting classes for all ages!
Remember, “The family that kicks together, sticks together”.
